Eric, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It looks like we got your TV fixed and billed to Samsung. To answer your questions, in short, the original capacitors failed below their stated value so the manufacturer of he capacitors is to blame for the failure. However, we can only speculate if Samsung knew they were cheap and to be fair, Samsung is neither the first nor the last TV manufacturer to have major capacitor issues. We replace the capacitors with higher quality and a higher voltage tolerance capacitor and to this date have not had a repeat failure. If you need to know more about the theory behind the failure and the history of capacitor failures in TV's, then call me when you have an extra hour or two and I will be more than happy to talk you through it.

Thank you for your post.

If you brought it to our shop in Plymouth it would cost around $140 for us to repair the power supply. Definitely worth fixing. We can also do it on-site.

Drop it off on monday or call to set up an appointment (763) 544-1355. We would love to help you out.

Don, my best guess for that symptom is three parts in the power supply. Usually the fuse, a 5W resistor and 1 or 2 switching transistors.

Were you looking to tackle this yourself?

We would only charge $134 + parts (approx $30) if you drop it off and just add $49 to do it on-site.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Tash. 80% of the time we can just re attach the connector, otherwise, we replace the board. Either way it is always economical to repair.

Aaron, It sounds to me like microprocessor errors on the main pcb. If the microprocessor in a TV is working correctly then it will always respond to the power button being pressed. The only time it won't under normal conditions is when another button on the front panel is already being pressed. The main board also controls the sound, front led color and triggers the backlight. From my experience the main board would neeed to be replaced which is not in stock but still available if you brought it to us.

Based on the model #, Samsung has upgraded the convergence amp board for improved reliability so if we were to do the repair we would replace the board and not just the chip (aka: convergence amp or convergence IC). You would be looking at a total repair bill of about $390. Call 763-544-1355 if you would like to set up an appointment.

Unfortunately, there could be a number of things that cause this.
1. Connections between the main board and the t-conn board.
2. Defective main board
3. Bad capacitors in the power supply.

1 and 3 would be worth fixing.

Chirping from the power supply usually means a short. Check for shorted diodes and transistors. The easiest way to repair it would be to replace the entire power supply board. Call us for current price.

This is a very common problem, in fact probably one of the most common we've seen in the past decade. The solution is to replace the "chassis", which is basically 6 circuit boards enclosed in a metal shield. The cost for us to replace the chassis would be $490 plus tax. This price includes labor, trip up to 30 miles, parts, cleaning and alignment, and full diagnostic.

That part is no longer available from RCA distributors and even if it was it would cost more than new 32" RCA LCD. Sorry. Is the screen cracked? If not then we may be able to repair it as opposed to replacing it.
